From first call to our answer
Six steps, in the order they happen
Nothing here costs you anything until you sign a fee agreement, and we walk you through it before you do.
- 01
Step 1: Tell us what happened
Use the check on the contact page or call. It takes about two minutes, and you can leave out anything you aren’t ready to say.
- 02
Step 2: Sign a records release
If it sounds like something we can look at, we send a release so we can request your charts from every provider.
- 03
Step 3: We gather and sort the chart
Records arrive in pieces over weeks. We put them in order and read them first for what happened, and when.
- 04
Step 4: A physician reads it with us
A practising doctor in the right field tells us whether care fell short and whether it caused the harm.
- 05
Step 5: You hear our answer
We call, then write, with our reasons. If we decline, we tell you what to look out for, including any deadline.
- 06
Step 6: If we take it, you decide each step
The fee agreement comes first, in writing. After that, nothing moves without your say-so.
While you wait
The weeks while records are collected are hard. A few things help, and none of them cost anything.
- Keep your appointments and take medicines as directed.
- Write down dates, names and what was said, while you remember.
- Keep bills, letters and photographs together in one folder.
- Please don’t post about it online or sign anything from an insurer without asking us first.
If something changes in your or a family member’s health, tell your doctor first and then us.
Ready to start with a two-minute check?
You can also call and tell us out loud.
We review your case at no charge. If we take it, our fee is a share of any recovery and nothing if there is none. Case costs, such as records and expert reviews, are explained in writing before you sign, and the agreement says whether you owe them if there is no recovery.
